Anita Briem is an Icelandic actress from Iceland . Known for her portrayal in the role of Jane Seymour , the young woman destined to become the third wife of King Henry VIII in the series on television The Tudors and for her character as Hannah in the film Journey to the Center of the Earth ( 2008 ) . Briem began her acting career when she was 9 years old at the National Theater in Iceland. When she was a young actress she appeared in a variety of plays broadcast on radio and television from her homeland of Iceland. Briem was a child performer in the age of 16 when she moved to London. She was a part of an adaptation of Lenin, in Love by The New End Theater. Briem received a place at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art at the age of 19. Over the next three years, she was a student at the academy, earning diplomas in drama and it was awarded the John Barton Prize for Scenic Fight. When she was studying at RADA was a participant in many shows, which included The Cherry Garden by Anton Chekhov as well as Bernarda Alba's home in the play of Federico Garcia Lorca .
